MOTOR RACING TEAM SPONSORSHIP WITH A TWIST

ONE of Australia's up and coming V8 Supercar drivers is inviting a select group of motorsport fans into his world in 2009.  Ryal Harris will be competing in this year's Fujitsu V8 Development Series and is expected to continue to be amongst the front runners in the Yokohama V8 Ute championship.  The team is taking a fresh approach to attracting sponsors this season by enabling a total of 15 committed fans to live their dream by joining the team at the various rounds this season .

The program will see one fan assigned as tyre manager for the V8 Supercar and the second working as driver support for the V8 Ute . "We want people to see what it is really like in a professional motorsport team, in and behind pitlane. We're not inviting spectators, we want people who really want to get involved," says team boss Ken Harris. "The people who join Ryal Harris Racing in season 2009 will be a genuine part of our team. They will get to see all the highs and lows, and we're certainly planning to give them plenty to celebrate."

Harris Snr and Team Manager, Rob Howell developed their innovative ‏pit crew plan as a way of raising sponsorship while also giving something special to their backers. It costs a minimum of $3,500 but both believe it is great value.  "Lots of teams just bank the cheque, put a sticker on their car, then forget about their partners," says Howell.  "We don't just want sponsors, we want genuine partners in our program. And we think what we have planned is much more than just a traditional sponsorship deal plus giving personnel an unique opportunity to experience the racing up close whilst their brand is being promoted on 2 race cars over the course of the weekend."
